The SIMA Waterman's Ball's main purpose of raising funds toward ocean related causes may be the cake but the icing of this event is the family reunion type vibe that keeps this industry so solid....also a rare opportunity to bust out the Hawaiana print shirts as surfers take a stab at their classic version of black tie. This year there were splashes of Aloha, but a the overall statement of classic black and white.... Lots of lace, platform short boots, tans and a random afro....but mostly a happy to "see you" and not "be seen" feeling Pros and surf legends like big wave surfer/honoree George Long were the main celebs of the evening...this year joined by those of the entertainment genre. Pam Anderson, Perry Farrell, and Sal Masekela (as always!) were out supporting - Pam looking good with legs for miles in a drapey off the shoulder shift...not sure why she wouldn't let me take a pic... I'm no hater. Honoree/surf legend George Downing, gave the speech of the night with his definition of an educated man....one who teaches. Always so grateful to be a part!
